Tour de Fat: Milwaukee
Written by Jordan Twiggs

TDFMilwaukeeMilwaukee!

Wow! You folks were incredible! It was your Tour de Fat inauguration, and you made it a beginning worth remembering. A blaring Mid-Western sun coupled with a lack of trees would’ve driven most folks indoors, but not you!  You kept your spirits up and stayed fully costumed for the entire event. Troopers! You’re famous for your cheese, but you should definitely be famous for your friendliness and energy, too. You held your own with Chicago, even though they’re something like ten times the size!

Things ran much smoother at the Wolverine Farm Publishing DIY Urban Homestead this time. We’re on our way to the Map of Self-Reliant Living. Your enthusiasm boosted our pioneering spirits. Many of you wanted to chat with us about rainwater harvesting, and we tried to figure out, logically speaking, why it could ever be illegal?  Not only did you have rainwater barrels at home, you wanted nothing more than to play our game of Rainwater Ring Toss, the best circus game either side of the 100th Meridian. For that, we thank you.

Even if we curdled our brains, we wouldn’t be able to think of a single negative thing about the humans at the TDF in Milwaukee. All of you came to the table with knowledge and cheeriness alike. Your bike stories were grotesque, heart warming, and inspiring for all of those within earshot. Great fun, all of you!

Keep riding your bikes and lifting your glasses, Milwaukee. Thanks for behaving and having a good time. We’ll see you next year!

“May the wind be at your back.”
