seattlebikeWell, now, Seattle, that’s more like it.

For the last two years, we had wondered whether you were just not into bikes and beer, or if you simply had better things to do than to come on out to the Tour de Fat. But not this year! So, so many of you came bejeweled and bedazzled and ready to tell us about what it is like on your homesteads in the Evergreen State.

Turns out, you have plenty of water up here where it rains and rains and rains, and so the conversations we were able to have with you about resourceful rain water collection were especially inspiring and enlightening.

The five of us (Jordan, Judith, Evan, Melissa, and Lyle) had a great time learning of your western ways. And then, to make the experience even sweeter, some of you came by to say, and I quote here, “I buy your publications because if we don’t support you, we will have no other choice than to buy and read the masses of corporate magazines and journals that the system pumps out day after day after day.” Thank you for that, kind sir! And to you, Mr. Davey Oil of Bike Works, you touched us deeply when you said that you read blurbs from the pages of Boneshaker to people and kids on bike rides as a way of inciting a revolutionary spirit. Bless you! And to you, Juliette Delfs, who picked up some of our print matter to offer up in her beautiful shop Hub & Bespoke, we hope your costumers are as pleased as we are.

Seattle, you are an emerald gem at heart, and we thank you for having us and sharing with our urban homesteading entourage your stories, your thoughts, and your kindness!
