You did it, San Francisco. You simply outdid yourself. Last year when we rolled through town and the Tour de Fat with our yurt and stacks of books, poor Laurie was left shivering behind the sales table wrapped in her sleeping bag. All of you kept telling us this was not what it was like in San Francisco, that this is California and that things get better and warmer and far more fun than this.

And boy were you right! Not only was there no rain or fog this time around, there weren't even any clouds! And that ocean-drenched sun; man was that a treat for pale skin. And then you people really came ready to read. Little Boneshaker could hardly keep up with your gracious comments, and Mr. Edward Abbey must have a pretty strong following in these parts because when all you Tour-goers noticed our poster about Matter 13 being themed in his honor as they waited for beer, they almost forgot they wanted a beverage at all and came running to tell us how great it is that we're doing Matter thusly.

We are stunned and reeling, San Francisco, and for that we thank you. Please be well and continue to push that envelope.
