“So hot,” we said, but you just laughed into our sweaty pleading faces. You came in droves, Tempe, and you came prepared with scanty clothing and we looked on in awe from the folds of our woolen vests as you grew into the second largest Tour De Fat of the season. We crooned to you Tempe and you did not let us off easy; we had to dig deeply into our bag of tricks to bring you to us, but when you came you were ready to talk the rollickingly fancy talk of bicycling and literature lovers. Admittedly, we could not really understand how you could think of raising such a large city from the floor of this desert, but you have, and here we are and here we go. You seem to love your sun and warmth, and we’ll leave you to it for another year.
