Austin, Texas, you are an exception to every rule. You are an amazing blue island in a sea of red and we can hardly explain what a grand time we had within your city limits. From the Boneshaker reading we did at MonkeyWrench Books, to the great people who invited us to a delicious papusa dinner; from the Edgar Allan Poe exhibit we cruised at the UT Ransom Center, to the nice people at Spider House Café who let us work and read for hours upon hours each day, Austin welcomed us wholly into its great big ol’ loving Texan arms.
We sweated our fair share in the more humid parts of the early week, but the weather came around nicely at weekend time. As for the Tour de Fat itself, woo wee! You people love everything about mid-autumn weather and beer for a good cause. You bought up every single copy we had on hand of Boneshaker, and really took a liking to the newest issue of Matter, and for that we thank you, Austin! We tip our hats to you repeatedly.
That, our friends, was a summer in the life of two literary vagabonds on a ballyhoo tour. Four months, 12,000 miles, and dozens of cities later, we ride off into the Texas sunset and are finally going home.
Always with great respect and deepest admiration, your book-peddling nomads,
Andrew and Evan P
