Call for Submissions! Matter 12: Press

If you take your wrinkle-free pants off and fling them into the air, it means you are more naked than before and acting goofy. If you take an old printing machine and use it as a table, it means you are being crafty though possibly eccentric. If you are sitting at your typewriter right now and not doing anything, it means nothing.

What do we want from you? Poems of white hot passion, when the sheets are pressed to the ceiling! Stories about forging ahead against the odds the naked feet against the bare floor, the beauty of! Stories of the earth against the sky, pamphlets and prophets and propaganda. We want you pressed and ready to wear in the morning!

As always, seeking grit, vice, honesty, and clear thinking. We like farming, bicycles, wilderness, self-reliant living, and the unknown.

The journal Matter is published twice a year. We accept submissions year-round. Usually theme-based, Matter encourages free experimentation with words and images, though nothing beats good taste, passion, and integrity. Always looking for quality fiction, non-fiction, poetry, interviews with writers, artists, activists, and interesting people, photography, and all kinds of visual art.

People are rarely radical enough, either in their art, or their actions. Does this mean we want to be shocked, burnt, tortured, or jailed by your submissions, by your ideas? Most certainly not. Some of the most radical ideas arise from the most plain places or faces. Reject the hip and the hype. Be honest, be bold.

GUIDELINES: Fiction: Up to 5,000 words

Non-Fiction: up to 5,000 words

Poetry: Up to five pages

Interviews with artists/activists: Up to 3,000 words

Visual submissions: Photography, illustrations, collage, found objects, etc; 300 dpi; grayscale (unless submitting for cover, then CMYK); tiff or jpg; files larger than 10mb, please burn to a CD and mail to us.

Manuscripts
Wolverine Farm does not accept unsolicited book-length manuscripts. That said, we do encourage queries about interesting books that fit our mission of engaging humans more mindfully with the world around us. We strive to publish one to two books per year in addition to our regular publications. If you have specific questions please email Todd Simmons at wolverinefarm@yahoo.com.
